Jay-Z has sold more than 100 million records. He received 21 Grammy Awards for his music. In 2006 Jay-Z was ranked the “Greatest MC of all time”. The Singer owns the New York 40/40 Club sports bar and is the co-creator of the clothing line Roca wear. He is the former president of Def Jam Recordings, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, and the founder of the entertainment company Roc Nation. He also founded the sports agency Roc Nation Sports and is a certified NBA and MLB sports agent. He was ranked the tenth most successful artist in 2009 by Billboard‘s as well as the fifth top solo male artist and fourth top rapper behind Eminem, Nelly, and 50 Cent. Jay-Z estimated net worth was $810 million, making him the second-richest hip hop artist in the U.S.
Shawn Carter was born in Brooklyn, New York, He was the youngest of four children. His father, Adnes Reeves, abandoned the family when Jay-Z was just 11 years old. He along with his three siblings was then raised by their mother, Gloria Carter. His father later then met and reconcile with him before dying in 2003. Jay-Z attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn until it was closed down. He then attended the nearby George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School with future rappers The Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes, followed by a stint at Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey, though he did not graduate. According to his interviews and lyrics, during this period he sold crack cocaine and was shot three times. Later on, he began freestyling and writing lyrics. Known as “Jazzy” around the neighborhood, he later adopted the showbiz/stage name “Jay-Z” in homage to his mentor Jaz-O. He would drop the hyphen in 2013.

Jay-Z will soon be releasing his new album ‘4:44‘ on June 30, 2017. The album will first be an exclusive for Tidal subscribers through a partnership with Sprint. This will be the first Tidal-exclusive JAY-Z album. His last album Magna Carta Holy Grail dropped in 2013, two years before his accession of Tidal. In his new album is a song called “Adnis” The song was teased in the 4:44 album announcement trailer. It features JAY-Z letting his guard down to share some thoughts about his father, Adnis Reeves. His album feature Mahershala Ali, Danny Glover and Oscar-Winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. Although this is Jay-Z’s 13th album, this will be the first time he’s stuck to just one producer.
